Aaaaand action!

Buddy of mine took this while working as an extra on a film directed by Mr. Eastwood. It's shooting about an hour from my house. You know Clint doesn't bait cast. You just know it!

Jeff Zwart is one of my heroes! Check out some of his directorial work here. Thanks Fatlace for another great article!

Motivation

Do not burn yourself out. Be as I am-a reluctant enthusiast…a part time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it is still there. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks. Run the rivers breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: You will outlive the bastards.

- Edward Abbey (1927-1989)

South River Festivus!

The Virginia Fly Fishing Festival finds itself on the banks of the South River in Waynesboro, Virginia for its 11th year April 16-17. Bob Clouser and the man himself - casting sage Lefty Kreh will be there as well as local guides and vendors. Get some casting instruction from Lefty, fish the South, and finish off the day tasting grape juice from some, (hell, why not all), of the Virginia Wineries that'll be there!

So some technical difficulties with the aforementioned Gourds-Post but
A.A. Bondy should do just fine.

Water blown out? Find a Ferrari.

So all my local water has been blown out for what seems like a week now so with some free time on my hands a couple of buddies of mine and I got a hold of a Ferrari 330GT 2+2 for a bit. (Don't worry about how we did it. We just did.) V12, 5-speed, 4 seats. What more do you want?

Save The Date

So for the 4th year in a row the Fly Fishing Film Tour is on the road with some more fish film-goodness! It's worth the drive. Check this short out about Matt Schliske - a cane rod builder extraordinaire.

Gettin' all "artsy"!

Brown Trout? No better color combination in nature. Artist Dan Sharley does the fish justice in this print. I've got a Derek DeYoung print but this might have to hang right beside it.

Vegas In A Streamer

One of my favorites - the Kreelex. All the shiny tacky lure of Vegas in a streamer! Here's a great tying video from the brothers Colby & Brian at Mossy Creek Fly Fishing. (Dems good people!)

Deck Art

Never knew who created some of the coolest art for skate decks back in the day. Jim Phillips is the artist behind the Rob Roskopp series of boards for Santa Cruz. You gotta dig the colors!

7' of art!

A shorter Thomas Rod has been somewhat of a dream of mine. 7', 3 tips, $3900. For more mouth-watering cane porn check out Len Codella's place.

Staying on the buckle tip...

So back in the day when you subscribed to a cool magazine you got something like a bitchin'
belt buckle! Now it's tote bags and stickers if you're lucky. I wear'em with pride!
